We were at Washington for 2 weeks in a row- Jan 5-9, and Jan 12-16. Jill Dzurisin and I (Anita) worked down the hall from one another. We worked with 4 teachers- Susan Rathwick, Lisa Vukovits, Larry Laskoski, and Kasi Bolden. I think we saw some future nurses and doctors looking through our microscopes!
Due to a snow day, and then Martin Luther King Day, some of our embryos did not fair very well. We hydrated all of the petri dishes as soon as we got in on Tuesday morning, but, unfortunately some did not survive.
I also enjoyed being there in the excitement of the day -Inaugeration Day of Obama. All of the classes had on televisions (in the background), and then we all watched the swearing in ceremony and his speech. Kasi Bolden (the teacher that I was teaching with) was actually up in Washington D.C. that day, so we kept watching for her in the crowds!
Our larvae were more advanced than they usually get to be (because of the extra long week-the snow day, weekend, and Martin Luther King Day). They were 8 days old rather than the usual 4 days old, so we were able to see filled swim bladders (gas bladders), as well as having to observe our larvae in individual drops of water so that their area of swimming was limitted to the small drop.

It was a fun 2 weeks!
