BioEYES is a week-long activity that uses live zebrafish to engage students in learning about topics like genetics and embryonic development. Students observe and breed the fish on Monday. Then on Tuesday students collect the embryos and observe their development throughout the week.

In order to facilitate the planning of the BioEYES activity throughout the academic year, we would like each collaborating teacher to enter their school's initials, their own last name, how many classrooms and the approximate total number of students in all those classrooms. We would also like each teacher to choose a primary and secondary choice and indicate this by putting a "#1" or "#2" before their last name. To economize our efforts we would appreciate all the teachers from the same school signing-up for the same dates, if possible, by entering their info in the same horizontal row. Don't hesitate to make an entry in the same week that other teachers have chosen if that week is really your preference.

Each teacher attending the BioEYES Summer Institute should make an entry into this table (as well as those veteran teachers from last year's BioEYES) so that there is no ambiguity about who has made an entry and who hasn't. A sample entry is entered in the first two rows below: (EXHS,#1-Mooney, 4,80 ; EXHS,#1-Zakas,5,120 ; EXHS,#2-Mooney,4,80; EXHS,#2-Zakas,5,120 ). The example entry says the school is "EXHS" with two teachers ("Mooney" and "Zakas"). Mooney has 4 classrooms with a total of 80 students; Zakas has 5 classrooms with a total of 120 students. The week of Aug 3-7 is their first choice. The week of Aug 10-14 is their second choice.

We will use the table to schedule the BioEYES activity for the entire 2009-2010 academic year. Please make your entry by June 12, 2009. Thank you!

Anita
